Turn signals are lights with amber lenses or clear lenses with amber bulbs that when turned on flash on one side or the other of your Porsche, depending on which side is turned on. They also double as the hazard lights which when turn all make all the turn signals on your vehicle flash in unison. Proper working turn signals are vital for safety.
All vehicles have at least (4) turn signals, two at the front and two at the rear. Some vehicles have up to (8) turn signals, two at the front, two at the rear, two on the front sides, and two on the rear sides so that the flash of the turn signal can be seen from any direction.
Turn signals may be their own light or part of a headlight or tail light assembly depending on the vehicle manufacturer.
Routine inspection of your turn signals function should be conducted multiple times a year to make sure they are all working properly and that none of the bulbs are burned out. Some states will not let your Porsche pass its yearly inspection if all of the turn signals are not functioning properly.
Signs of Faulty Turn Signals
Indicators of a burned out bulb or damaged turn signal circuit are the turn signals flashing faster than normal, slower than normal, or staying on and not flashing when turned on.
Replacing Your Porsche Turn Signals
Turn signal bulbs are often easily replaceable. Some require the removal of the turn signal by removing a screw or bolt and some require accessing the inside of the body panels by reaching in through the hood or by pulling back trim panels in the rear of the vehicle. Side turn signals often require the lens to be removed with a plastic pry tool to replace the bulb.
